Drug Free and Safe Schools Department
The goal of the Drug Free and Safe Schools Department is to provide a
safe and secure educational climate and to protect school property and
those who occupy it. The department provides security to 31 district properties and targeted services to the middle and high schools.
Staff members in the department include a Chief of Security and 15 Police
Authority Officers who have Michigan Commission Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification. The program operates under a Public Act
330 license. In addition, 100 percent of the schools have Crisis Management and Pandemic Flu Plans.
