Office of the General Counsel

The School District of the City of Pontiac Office of the General Counsel serves as the in-house legal staff for the Board of Education, Superintendent, administrators, and staff. As such, the office of the General Counsel is responsible for providing, in an efficient and timely manner, high-quality legal advice and representation on litigation. The General Counsel office advises District administration and staff in regards to state and federal statutes, court decisions, contracts, and government regulations and policies; Responsibility for supervising and directing outside legal counsel as needed; and coordinates and responds to requests submitted under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA.)
