Pontiac School District is proud participate in the Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE) Meet Up and Eat Up Summer Foods Program. This initiative is designed to ensure that children and teens in our community have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer months, when school is not in session.

What is the Meet Up and Eat Up Summer Foods Program?

The Meet Up and Eat Up Summer Foods Program is a statewide initiative led by the Michigan Department of Education. The program aims to provide free, healthy meals to children and teens during the summer vacation. By participating in this program, Pontiac School District helps to bridge the nutrition gap that can occur when school is out, ensuring that all students continue to receive the essential nourishment they need to grow and thrive.

Who Does the Program Serve?

The Meet Up and Eat Up Summer Foods Program is open to all children and teens aged 18 and under. There are no income requirements or registration needed. Every child or teen is welcome to enjoy a nutritious meal, regardless of their economic background. This program is especially beneficial for families who rely on school meals during the academic year and may face food insecurity during the summer months.

Dates and Locations

Pontiac School District will host the Meet Up and Eat Up program at two locations throughout the summer. Here are the dates and locations where meals will be available:

  1. Whitman Elementary School

    • Address: 125 W. Montcalm Street | Pontiac, MI 48342
    • Dates: Coming Soon
    • Days: Monday through Thursday
    • Breakfast: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
       

  2. Pontiac Middle School

    • Address:   1275 North Perry Street | Pontiac, MI  48340
    • Dates:  Coming Soon
    • Days: Monday through Thursday
    • Breakfast: 9 to 10 a.m.
    • Lunch: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

We encourage all families to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. No child should go hungry, and the Meet Up and Eat Up program is here to make sure that doesn’t happen in our community.
