Training for Running for School Boards

This coming November 2026, school districts across the state will be electing new school board members.

Have you thought about running for school board? Then this training on February 23, 2026 is for you!

In partnership with the Great Lakes Political Academy LEAD Education Fund, Michigan Education Justice Coalition (MEJC) is offering an introductory training about running for school board. This training will help parents, educators, caregivers, advocates and other community members interested in running for their local school board get prepared to run for their district school board.

In this training, topics covered will include:

• Who makes decisions in our schools?
• An overview of our healthy and healing schools platform
• The most pressing issues facing school districts today, including mental health, school safety, and ongoing equity challenges with school funding

We will also hear from currently serving school board representatives
