The Mission of Pontiac Middle School and Pontiac Preparatory Academy is to provide rigorous, relevant, responsive, and safe educational opportunities for students to become lifelong learners and contributing citizens in a diverse, global society.
The Vision of Pontiac Middle School and Pontiac Preparatory Academy is for students to maximize their academic and social potential each day.
Pontiac Middle School (PMS) was built in 1956 and provides education for students in grades seven, eight, and nine. The school is located on the north side of the city and next to the Pontiac High School.
At PMS the students are taught reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math. Students participate in the elective wheel which rotates them through different elective courses which includes physical education, foreign language, band, art, math games, and computers. Ninety-three percent of the students participate in the free/reduced lunch program.
The PMS library/media center had a make-over by the Piston’s Corporation which donated several hundred books and a variety of learning materials for the middle school. The PMS motto echoes the Pontiac School District’s: “Excellence, Efficiency and Equity is an affirmation of our commitment to our students parents, and citizens in the city of Pontiac.
